Sharing the Gospel, One Phone at a Time
The Gospel of Christ is reaching further than ever before, and we have been praying and dreaming with God that the whole continent of Africa would be covered with the Gospel of Christ. Through the grace of God and by using technology and unique strategies, we believe this is possible.
In July, a team from Renew Outreach traveled to Nigeria, Benin, and Togo, witnessing firsthand the incredible impact these efforts are having. During the trip, they conducted seven training sessions on Reach and Mobile Ministry strategies, in local churches. They were able to equip over 200 pastors and leaders from various denominations with these powerful tools for evangelism!
One trainee stated, “This training gave us new evangelistic tools, and a new Bible study method that has broken the monotony of our Bible studies.”
These strategies are all about empowerment. By learning to use their mobile phones together with Gospel media, individuals are equipped to spread the Word where resources like internet access are scarce. Imagine a person on the street showing a clip from the JESUS Film on their phone to spark a conversation about Jesus, then instantly being able to share that same clip via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi direct. Bible study groups can be formed right around a mobile device, listening to the audio Bible together.
The two-day training sessions had a tangible impact, as participants didn’t just learn these strategies—they practiced them in real-time. They took to the streets, using JESUS Film clips and Bluetooth sharing as tools for one-on-one evangelism.
Another said, “The training ignited the fire of evangelism in my heart and I am having a different approach to sharing the Gospel.”
Imagine the possibilities if churches across the whole continent of Africa were trained to fully embrace the power of the tools that they already have in their hands—their mobile phones. Imagine if they could use this simple technology to share Gospel media in their native languages. The potential is limitless. We can dream big with God: the Word of God can flourish through the use of simple technology and Gospel media. Person to person. One conversation at a time.
Our prayer is that every person could hear the Word of God in their own language not only in Nigeria, Benin, and Togo but in all of Africa!
