We believe that each human being enters life under the providential superintendence of God (Psalm 100:3, Proverbs 22:2), and that God is the ultimate source and sustainer of all human life (Genesis 1:27; Isaiah 45:12; 1 Timothy 6:13). As a result, we believe that all human life is to be respected and valued as God’s sacred work from conception to its natural end, and should be preserved, protected, and provided for in a manner consistent with Biblical ethics (Psalm 139:13; Isaiah 49:1; Jeremiah 1:5; Matthew 22:37-39; Romans 12:20-21; Galatians 6:10).

We believe the fundamental unit within God’s ordained structure for society is the family, and the ideal family is based on love, submission, and sacrifice between a husband and a wife under the Lordship of Jesus Christ (Ephesians 5:21-31). We believe that God created man and woman as unique biological persons made to complete each other through marriage, and that Biblical marriage is the union of one man and one woman in a life-lasting, monogamous relationship (Genesis 1:27, 2:18-25; Matthew 19:4-6; 1 Corinthians 6:9). We believe that divorce is never God’s ideal for marriage and should only be considered where reconciliation is not a viable option (Matthew 19:8; Mark 10:5-9; 1 Corinthians 7:10-16).

We believe the Bible teaches that sexual behavior is exclusively reserved to occur within a monogamous Biblical marriage, and that Christians are to avoid any sexual behavior outside of such a relationship (Exodus 20:14; Leviticus 18:7-23, 20:10-21; Deuteronomy 5:18; Matthew 5:27-28, 19:4-6; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9-13, 7:1-8; 1 Thessalonians 4:3-5; Hebrews 13:4; Galatians 5:19; Ephesians 4:17-19, 5:3, 25-27; Colossians 3:5). We also believe that we are called to avoid activities that awaken or encourage sexual desire outside of its proper, God-honoring context, such as viewing pornography or engaging in sexual harassment or sexually explicit communication. (Psalm 51:10; Proverbs 23:26; Philippians 4:8).

We believe that each person’s gender at birth reflects God’s intention for that person’s life (Jeremiah 1:5). Consequently, we believe it is contrary to God’s will to deny one’s gender or to attempt to change one’s gender, either physically or psychologically (Genesis 1:26-28). Nevertheless, we recognize that many who struggle with this issue may be especially needful of respect and compassion.

We believe that all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23). However, we also believe that we may be saved by His grace and forgiveness, and that likewise we should respond to transgressions and failures of others with a spirit of understanding, compassion, openness, forgiveness, and hope for redemption and reconciliation (Proverbs 14:9; Matthew 6:12; Romans 5:15; Colossians 1:14; Ephesians 3:8).
